Jami Thomson, Violin
Jami’s days as a violinist began at the age of seven, while living in Belgium. She continued her studies after moving back to the states and was principle for the Quad City Youth Ensemble. She has performed with the Quad City Youth Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, Brigham Young University Symphony Orchestra, played back-up for Ray Price, and is a member of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoys teaching privately.
In addition to playing violin, Jami studied oboe performance at Brigham Young University and sat principle chair at the Iowa All-State competition. While at BYU, she had the privilege of being instructed by and performing with Carolyn Hove, Solo English Horn player for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She also had one-on-one instruction from Thomas Stacey and Nancy Ambrose King. Finally, Jami was awarded the winner of Davenport Central High School’s annual concerto competition, was a member of the BYU Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Opera, and has played back-up for BJ Thomas and Christopher Cross.
